Our History
Our history dates all the way back to around
2000 years ago when Christians began to assemble
together. Those early Christians gathered in the city
where they lived, and met as the church in that city.
The believers in Jerusalem, for example, were simply
the church in Jerusalem. Likewise, the believers in
Ephesus were the church in Ephesus.
The biblical thought of the church is not a physical
building or even an organization. Rather, the church is
composed of genuine believers living in the same
locality, who are also members of the one Body of
Christ, the universal church. This simple yet marvelous
view of the church was clouded in the past, being
tarnished with rituals, traditions, politics, culture, and
other human considerations. As a matter of fact, the
church as Christ’s one Body consequently became
denominated (divided).
However, the biblical view of the church was
gradually recovered, especially during the 20th century.
Today there are many thousands of Christians
throughout the world who come together simply as the
church in the city where they live.
Similarly, the church in Cincinnati, composed of all
genuine believers living within the Cincinnati area, has
been practically meeting in Cincinnati since the 1980’s.
